Young Adult has no age restrictions – unless you’re too young. Then, well, there’s no need to rush getting older!
Seriously though, when you walk into a book store or library, do you feel like you’re being watched if you don’t go straight to the literary fiction section? It took me a long time to accept my brain does not think in symbolism and landscapes. It thinks like a 14 year old on a good day. I want adventure. I want dragons. I want honest emotions and general heroics. I want someone to save the world, and I don’t care how old he or she is as long as it’s a good story.
I don’t believe I’m alone, either. I think there are more folks just like me whose greatest joy is finding a book that keeps them reading way past their bed time. A book they close and immediately start thinking about who has to read it next. A book that transports them to another time, another age, another place or just down the street. A book that reminds them of the joy of reading. I want to read those books, and I’ve discovered, a lot of them are in the YA section.
So, if you’re like me and searching for your next grand adventure, maybe I can find you a book to enjoy in the YA section, too. Think of it as an anti-aging secret. It’s hard to feel old when you think like a YA.
